Best patisserie in entire NYC. Historic place. Excellent croissant. Don't die before taste it. Very easy to reach.
Very nice place to have coffee and pastries while having a nice conversation
It’s the best croissants, chocolate croissants, brioche, French tarts (small and large), and many more. Such a neighborhood gem! Don’t miss it.
I love the desserts here. This small bakery does it right!Try their specials and seasonal desserts with fruits. The only thing is that prices are a bit high for the portion size of the pieces.
Not sure what all of these reviewers are drooling over. We had several pastries which looked very cute, but were nothing extraordinary in terms of their taste. Korean takes on Parisian desserts (Think Tous le Jours and Paris Baguette) have substantially tastier creations.
A very charming tiny home-made styled French pastry shop with very warm service and great comfort food.
The most buttery croissants in New York, soooo good! But I usually get the pain au chocolat, just as buttery but also filled with chocolate. I frequently enjoy their mini-quiches for lunch, there’s always one with ham (and cheese), and another with vegetable and cheese. The endive are my favorite, but broccoli or mushroom are also good. They also have little fruit tarts, apricot is my favorite. And the butter cookies!
Old world Bakery ❤
Love this place. All cakes and breads are tasty and have real flavor. You can taste what Claude tried to spread real French flavor to New Yorker.
Best pastry shop in NYC! Everything is made from scratch by a very talented pastry chef, Pablo Valdez. Once you visit Patisserie Claude, you'll understand how this gem of a bakery has survived the gentrification of the West Village since the early 80's.
The best Chocolate Hazelnut cookies I've ever tried ($20 pound).Coconut tart (like coconut cookies) and macaroons (with hazelnut) are good. Almond cookies are little hard.I want to try a plum tart next time)
Best Pastry in the city. XO Claude.
Authentic French pastries at a VERY reasonable price!
One of the best cakes in this area of West village we've been to. The best Chocolate Hazelnut I've ever tried and it's only $20 (large). The $10 cookies-in-a-box is not that good though.
Quaint and charming little spot for delicious pastries and bold coffee. Friendly and welcoming family run business.
Always amazing! Palmier is perfectly crisp and lightly sweet and opera is divine! Going to try the plum tart next time! $15 min for c.c though.
Small cute place maybe about 5 small tables very close together When we got there all the croissants were gone the woman stated 30 minutes for a fresh batch so yes we waited came back to some hot fresh croissants they gave us life that cold morning lol. I also had a raisin Danish which was very tasty soft not too sweet and no icing. Many pastry choices so I'll be back to try a few
Very cool place. Met the owner one of a kind.
I got the chocolate cake. It was amazing! Very rich flavor! Highly recommended!
I have been going and savoring Claude’s pastries for more than 20 years, since Claude himself, an eccentric and brilliant Swiss pastry chef, actually ran it. The Google description as “small and unassuming“ unacceptably downplays the quality, unique personality and tastefulness of his pastry creations. Fine and different from the average American “bakery” this is one of New York’s secret gems, and one of the Village’s must-visit places. Not to be missed are his coffee eclairs, hazelnut mousse napoleon, apricot tart, and Viennoisserie like his pain à raisin. For years his patrons included writers, artists, and poets from the neighborhood, like Joseph Brodsky, the American Nobel laureate. The place is open now, even during the pandemic. Go, enjoy.
Called the girl Gisele couldn’t tell me where they were located no boss to complain to! Barely any English
Dont eat here.... had chocolate cake and it made me sick :/ could not eat anything for a day and feeling horrible..... shame on you guys for using outdated products! Shame
Great tiny place excellent pattiserie also coffee and tea
The Best Patisserie in new york city with most kindest people.
This place has been a treasure for 40 years - the quiches are unequaled, even in Paris I have never had them as delicious. There is nothing about this place not to recommend
YOU.MUST.TRY!!!! Every time I come to NY (why am I not living here?......um, too expensive!) I try out different chocolate croissants from various places AND FINALLY, I find THE most YUMMY chocolate croissant from this cozy little spot in the West Village! My stomach thanks you!!!
Wonderful locally-owned West Village spot with excellent croissants and coffee. Hard to resist popping in for a fresh chocolate croissant when I'm walking by.
My husband and I were visiting NYC recently and we both got fixated on finding some excellent pain ou chocolat before we left town. We googled "best pain ou chocolat in NYC" and were not disappointed with the recommendation! Buttery, flakey, rich, with just the perfect hint of crispness to bring it all together. We also got an almond croissant which was equally heavenly. Our only mistake was not thinking ahead and ordering a few delights to go!!
A sweet little place that is perfect for a quick coffee+pastry+people watching! Quiches were delicious (both mushroom and ham) and staff was super friendly! Quick note - bring cash because you can only use a card for $15 and above... But worth it!
This place is small and unassuming, but they have the best croissant in NYC. They also have pastries, tarts and cakes that are very good too. Every time I bring them to parties or get-togethers, there are compliments all around.
Tiny bakery with a rotating selection of reliably amazing desserts and pastries. The cream puffs and tarts are always fantastic, the eclairs can be a little soft. There are a few tables to sit at but unless it's raining it's usually better to get something to go and eat it in Washington sq park.Card limit $15
Without a doubt the best french pastry shop in NYC. Pablo, the owner and head pastry chef is truly wonderful. This place is a West Village landmark!
A small and cute bakery in the west village. They have best coffee eclairs in all of New York!!! So fresh and creamy, just like in France.
